Warri Effurun Peace Marathon: My athletes are ready for 21km challenge
As preparations begin for the 2023 Warri Effurun Peace Marathon billed for November 25, coach Stephen Nuhu said the 21km upgrade will not be a headache for his athletes.
Nuhu disclosed that the runners including Emmanuel Gyan, Deborah Pam who won the male and female category last year, Stephen Joshua Dalyop, Yaron Vom, Rose Akusho and others are excitingly embracing the new challenge and are already training towards competing.
“We are all coming to Warri to compete, and the new race course is not an issue.
“We train for a full marathon, so everyone is ready for it.
“The Warri Effurun Peace Marathon is an event we look forward to every year,” said the veteran coach.”
Meanwhile, the route according to the organisers has been carefully drawn to showcase the race to the Warri and Effurun environ.
“We are expecting more participation from the citizens,” said WEPM CEO, Barrister Joyce Bozimo.
“As the runners go through the race course, we want the entire city to feel the atmosphere.
“It’s also always an opportunity for keepfit enthusiasts to participate in the fun.”
She added that schools and higher institutions in and around Warri will also be participating.
